Dolch Sight Words By: Allyza, Justin, Khoa, Yana

For the Dolch Sight Words assignment we worked in a group of 4. There was a total of 95 words which we divided. Each of us received a list of words that we had to capture. There were a few words that were challenging to find, for example, robin, boat, cow, farm and a lot more. To find most of these photos, it required going out. This assignment was also difficult because of communication. It took us weeks to collect the photos but during that time, we also enjoyed the hunt for all the words.

  The Dolch Sight Words Assignment consisted of 4 people a list, the intent was to take pictures of words on that list and how we can manipulate photography to create simple yet creative photos.

This assignment is called the "Macro Photography Assignment". The intent was to take pictures at a very minuscule scale and enlarge regular size items to create a new perspective for the image.
The beginning of the assignment was difficult for me when getting close to the photo I wanted it would blur. Once learning to use the reverse lens it helped tremendously as I could take shots clearly at a close range. The technique I used was rocking back and forth as I adjusted the lens, I watched multiple you tube videos to help configure my photos. Overall, I enjoyed this assignment and would love to do it again.

In this project, the task was to find the alphabet letters on any sort of pre-made structure/items. The beginning was challenging but the more careful I looked things started to appear. The process took time and exploring. Although it was difficult yet time-consuming it was another art of photography I didn't know about. The overall assignment was very enjoyable and I would definitely consider doing it again. For the future, I would like to challenge myself and explore Winnipeg more and remember to use my phone when finding interesting shots

During this assignment Mr. Harbeck had given us options on mastering different compositions for photography. To start it was quite the challenge understanding the assignment, but I sooner got familiar with the intent. Having my phone at times was very convenient, not having to carry a camera and having a portable phone made it easy for when nature sent any great visuals in my sight!

Photographing Motion by Khoa



This photograph is categorized as stop to blur motion, the particularly interesting concept of this is, you have a focal point and the audience should see that the most, for instance this was the volleyball it was blurred  but everything in the background was not. To capture this, often the object you want blurred should be in a action whether its riding a bike, throwing a ball, any physical movement and a still background can show this. The optimal settings were fairly similar to the first one , a high ISO helps in this situation to reduce the amount of light yet, being able to make fast pictures.





This assignment was all about motion and how we can manipulate it, the task was to take pictures       accordingly by stopping motion, exaggerating motion, blur to show motion, and panning. At the start figuring the ideal settings were complex but after many trials and errors it was simpler. The image     shown above is caught by stopping motion as I jumped in the air and set the ball the camera was          taken at the a time I was above ground, to portray that I jumped. The reason this would not be             considered a exaggerated motion is because the action was not overly excessive or over the top.
This in my opinion would be an easier shot to get then some of the others do to the basic settings  available it is optimal to shoot at a high ISO we found it worked best.




This photo was Chris, running with a basketball to make a lay up, it was a panning shot, as the approached and started moving the photographer held his shoot button, and followed the model.
This allow the figure to be in complete focus while having a blurred background showing a running movement. To create this, we found that the shutter speed worked best just below the middle point and the others settings kept lower to reduce the amount of light given.

The last photo, as you can see is me crazily whipping hula hoops, this is an exaggerated motion the model over does an action to show immense blur and motion I grabbed 4 hula hoops each with different colour and twirled them wildly in my hands. The camera does not much have affect on this as comparison to panning, but the model is the key aspect he/she should create an action with something that may stand out and do it to the point that it looks weird. The suitable  settings for this would be a high ISO,a higher f-stop, and a higher shutter speed.

Egg In Manual Settings by Khoa






In this assignment our class individually had to take pictures subjected to an egg, we went around the school.
The intent was learning the different factors that went into using a camera in manual settings.
We were presented with different requirements for each photo, and adjusting the ISO, Shutter speed, and f-stop helped situate for every photo. This task taught me different various settings incorporated photos, although the beginning was frustrating taking black pictures I slowly progressed and now have a better understanding.

Hidden Places @ Sargent Park by Khoa

















These photos take place amongst my school, Sargent Park. The day was cold and the wind breezed in the frosty environment. Our class walked around the school area and took appealing pictures, some of which include the trees around our neighborhood, or objects in the outdoor classroom. The main purpose is to visualize the essence of the Autumn to Winter transition, and how fused the two seasons were.
