Usually, we would be given an assignment and have plenty of time to execute it properly and creatively, however, this portrait assignment was very brief and direct. We were asked to take portraits of our partners in various locations and lighting conditions using 4 different camera lenses. There were shots taken outside in the natural light, inside close to a fairly good source of natural light, inside using artificial light and inside using very minimal natural light from the windows. Given that the time provided was very short, the resulting shots were pretty mediocre and lacking. This was the purpose of the assignment - to capture portraits that were merely average, study them, figure out our mistakes and learn to create more astounding portraits. This may be a short assignment but I have learned numerous things regarding how to use lighting adequately and how to properly set up your camera to support a desired depth of field.
